Petition Letter: I hope this message finds you well. My name is Shayen Fishman, and I am writing to respectfully request consideration for late enrollment into ENGL 100, as I was unable to meet the official registration deadline due to extenuating circumstances.
Over the past week, I have been navigating a particularly demanding period in both my professional and personal life. I am currently employed full-time as a Physiotherapy Assistant at a long-term care facility, where I support seniors in their rehabilitation and daily mobility needs. Recently, our facility experienced an unexpected increase in patient care demands, requiring additional time and attention beyond my usual work hours.
In addition to this, I have been closely involved in helping my sister recover from a recent leg injury. As her primary support, I have been assisting with mobility, attending medical appointments, and providing day-to-day care to aid in her recovery process. While I had every intention of completing my enrollment on time, these combined responsibilities created a temporary but significant strain on my capacity to manage personal and academic deadlines.
I take full accountability for missing the enrollment date, and I understand the importance of adhering to institutional timelines. This situation was an exception rather than a reflection of my commitment to my academic goals. I have always valued the opportunities that education provides and remain eager to continue building on my professional development.
If possible, I kindly ask for your understanding and the opportunity to enroll in these courses despite the missed deadline. I am prepared to complete any additional administrative steps required to facilitate late registration and to ensure I am fully caught up with course materials from the outset.

This English composition course is a required prerequisite for a Master’s program I plan to apply to as part of my continued medical training.
