Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Unfortunately, the final grades for the course were only released on May 12, after the enrollment deadline of May 9 had already passed, I was unable to register on time. Prior to receiving my final grade, I had no reason to believe I would need to retake the course. I felt confident about the exam, especially given the adjusted grading structure that was implemented due to the TA strike. Although there was no additional academic support available at the time, I did my best to succeed under the circumstances and believed I had done well enough to pass.

It came as a complete surprise to discover that I did not receive the credit, and I would have registered before the deadline had I known the outcome in advance. I now understand that I must retake MATH 121 in order to remain on track academically, and I am fully committed to meeting all course requirements if granted this opportunity. I kindly ask for your understanding of these unforeseen circumstances and respectfully request consideration for late enrollment. I am prepared to begin the coursework immediately and make up for any time lost.
