Academic appeal - request permission to drop late FILM 110 and LLCU 102 and request for credit standing in CLST 129.

During the winter semester of 2015, I had the misfortune of having experienced a decline in my health. For the majority of the semester I experienced severe and worsening abdominal pain resulting in several trips to the Kingston General Hospital emergency room, where I was admitted for several hours each time for various tests. I received two doctor¿¿s notes to support my absences dated March 10 and 13, 2015. One of which is attached for your reference. I was diagnosed with gallstone and stomach ulcer. Because of the stomach ulcer and the strong medication that I was prescribed by the emergency doctors and its side effects, I was not able to consume my regular prescribed medication to treat my ADHD condition to help me complete my work. The strain of the sicknesses eventually affected my body and my mental health.
As a result I received the final letter grade ¿¿F¿ in both FILM 110 and LLCU 1102. Also, I completed CLST 129 with a ¿¿D+¿. Several of my professors and TA¿¿s were informed of my medical condition. Being a first year student and the first time of being away from my family, this sudden illness that I had to endure was an experience for me. I wasn¿¿t aware at the time of the correct steps that I should have taken to inform your office. Few days ago as I was speaking to my academic counselor of my situation, she advised me that I have the right to appeal. She was extremely helpful and guided me through the entire process. I am thankful to her for her guidance.
I am currently enrolled in two online courses for the summer semester in order to increase my GPA, which is currently sitting at 1.36. As a result of my current academic standing, I am unable to select a major for the upcoming year and will be on academic probation going into the second year.
I am now completely recovered. My goal is still to major in Political Studies. Upon completion of my undergraduate studies my plan is to pursue my graduate studies in Law and to obtain my MBA. I am confident that I will be able to achieve my goals at Queen¿¿s University.
I have now learnt and fully understand that to achieve my goals that I must pay closer attention to future course drop dates and take advantage of the great services provided by Queen¿¿s University when necessary.
I kindly request your consideration and sincerely hope that my appeal will be granted to help me continue my academic career unimpeded at Queen¿¿s University. I would be glad to meet with you in-person to provide any information or clarification that may be helpful to consider my appeal.
