Petition Letter: Dear Dr. Jenn Stephenson,
I am submitting a petition for my final grade in BIOL 103 and I would like to drop the course. I ended the Winter 2025 Term with a final mark of 44.8% in BIOL 103. I am disappointed in this grade and believe that it does not represent my abilities in Biology. This term was difficult for me as I was facing serious mental health issues that compromised my ability to work and study. This caused my grades to suffer in all of my courses but especially BIOL 103. On top of that, the TA strike greatly affected the BIOL 103 syllabus and because of my circumstances these changes greatly impeded my overall grade. I missed the first in-person lab session and was told I could make it up at the end of the semester, however because of the strike I was unable to retake the lab or have it be omitted. The syllabus change made it so that the lab I missed greatly affected my overall grade. Despite the stress I was feeling and the lack of support caused by the strike, I worked hard to do well on my final exam in April. Unfortunately, I was unable to receive the grade I needed to pass this course.
Thank you,
Jazmyn Doyle
