Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing because I am asking for a permission to drop out of Math 121 as I do not feel confident of writing this final exam. In fact, I have already received a permission for a deferral for my midterm exam to September 12th due to the issue with my grandmother's health. As her health condition has not got any better but worse, my family and I have been putting in more time taking after her every day.
In her current condition, she needs assistant in every activities she does, like going to the bathroom, eating, and even going to bed. And now she begins having some emotional problems that we have been putting much effort to calm her. But because most of the family members have to attend to their work, I have to look after my grandmother on weekdays until midnight when she falls asleep.
With all these and the emotions it has brought to the family, I missed most of the course work and could not study under such circumstances, thus, I do not think that I am ready for this exam. I understand that if I am dropping out of this course this late at this moment, I would not get any refund back. Yet, this is not my main concern, rather, I am more concerned with the performance on the exam and my transcript. Because I am currently retaking this course, I do not feel the necessity of writing the exam if I am not going to perform better than the first time when I took this course. However, because this is a family issue but not my personal health issue, I do not have any professional notes for support. I am humbly asking for a permission for me to drop out of this course. Hope to hear from you soon. Thank you.
