Petition Letter: Hi,

Thank you for taking your time to read this document. I came to Queen¿¿s in first year eager and energetic to start my academic career, however when looking back I realized that first year rocked me quite a bit, both in a literal and figurative sense. Between October 2014 and May 2015 I had mono. The reasons this appeal is late is due to how I simply put off my tiredness by drowning myself in Starbucks on a day to day basis (7 cups of coffee a day from previously drinking no coffee). I did this because I thought that not only was this normal for a college student but almost expected. When my parents came to visit me after my school year my mom had concerns that I wasn¿¿t myself and that is when I went to get my blood tested. By the time I had my blood tested the mono was almost fully gone, however the testing that was done indicated that a past EBV infection was detected. I was told by an academic counsellor that I would also need a doctor¿¿s note, I received this from my doctor that I have been regularly seeing. The second reason for applying for this appeal would be for psychological reasons that I do not feel comfortable expressing, however my doctor did include this in his note. I was also told to explain the reason why in French I had a somewhat decent mark, this is because I have been speaking French since I was 2 years old and attended a fully French school until 8th grade. I hope that this letter explains the physical extenuating circumstances clearly, and I apologize for not feeling as if I could share the psychological angle with you.
