Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Ms. Bénard,

I am writing to you with respect to my inability to register for courses as a result of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences decision to have me withdrawn from Queens University for a period of three years.

May I please have an opportunity to explain my case for your kind attention and review. The letter informing me of this decision was dated May 26th, 2015 and the deadline for appeal stated as June 15th, 2015. During the course of the semester I had been tracking my own performance and had felt fairly comfortable that I had achieved the minimum required GPA. In fact I had been in continuous discussion with my advisor, Ms. Jennine Bell during April May and early June to discuss courses which I could pursue during the summer in order to fast track completion.

In all honesty, I have to admit that while I should have checked my University email more often I had no inclination of any hinderance to my academic path. I was totally taken aback when I read about the three year ban as I went to register for my next series of courses. At that time, during my discussion with Haley Everson to whom I went for initial appeal request she detected a possibility I might be inflicted with ADD and recommended that I seek medical advise; which I am in the process of doing.

In light of the above, it is my humble request that the 21-day appeal deadline be waived and that you will accord me the opportunity to then discuss the lifting of the imposed 3 year ban.

Kind Regards,
Nabeel Rashid
