Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request permission to late drop the course EMPR 270 from my academic record for the Winter 20025 term. Unfortunately, due to a combination of my father’s divorce and a prolonged mental health crisis, I was unable to submit a drop request before the deadline.
In February, I began experiencing significant mental health challenges, which affected my ability to focus, attend class, and complete coursework. At the time, I believed I could recover and complete the course successfully, which is why I did not initiate the drop earlier. However, my condition worsened, and I sought support from a psychiatrist, a psychologist, and my family doctor, who advised me to reduce my academic load. During this time, I required weekly follow-up appointments and medical tests. My care began in February and lasted until June, at which time the decision was made that I was able to return to my studies. I have attached supporting documentation to substantiate these circumstances.
I understand the importance of adhering to academic deadlines; however, I hope you will consider the exceptional nature of my situation. I am committed to maintaining my academic standing and well-being, and believe that dropping this course retroactively is in the best interest of both.
Please let me know if any additional documentation or steps are required. Thank you for your time and consideration of my petition.
