Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing this letter with utmost respect and sincerity to request an extension for my deferred final examination in CHEM 281 (Summer 2025 – 6W1).

Due to unforeseen and deeply challenging personal circumstances, I was unable to complete the originally scheduled final exam and was granted a deferred exam. However, despite my best efforts to recover and prepare, my situation has unfortunately not improved in time, and I now find myself unable to complete the deferred exam within the current deferred exam period.

This course and its completion are extremely important to me. I have put significant effort into keeping up with the content and never anticipated that my circumstances would deteriorate to this extent. I am devastated at the thought of not being able to complete this course successfully, and I humbly ask for your understanding and compassion.

I understand that a deferred exam is normally the final opportunity, but I am kindly asking for special consideration that would allow me the chance to complete the exam and earn credit for my work. I am more than willing to provide any further documentation or clarification you may require.

Please know that I do not make this request lightly. I am genuinely trying to do everything I can to stay on track with my academic responsibilities. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and I deeply appreciate your time, patience, and understanding.
