Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello I am requesting to drop my courses from last winter semester due to personal reasons, as well as the TA strikes during the semester. Mentally during this semester I was really struggling with the balance of classes and football. I was exhausted and not in the right head space due to certain family issues including the passing of a few family members as well as the financial difficulties of rent and student fees. During the semester I struggled with the thought of feeling lost or unsure of what I needed to be doing to succeed, with that I ended up missing a lot of classes as I was not able to show up and learn I was more focused on my mental health and well being. While doing the school work from home while the Ta’s were on strike I felt very unsure of certain assignments and grades that were not given back to me, leaving me with more stress of where I stand in the class as well as the academic pressure. Half way through the semester is really when I personally went downhill, I tried to focus on making money to pay for rent/ groceries, as well as tuition and the student fees. Having no grades come back from the strikes really made me feel lost as I had no clue how I was performing in the classes and didn’t know if I needed to improve substantially or if I was where I needed to be grade wise. Regarding family problems I had to leave mid week twice as I had funerals to attend forcing me missing for two important weeks. Overall I just could not finish classes the way I know I can and with everything that affected me over the school year I needed to apply for this late drop.
