Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Faculty Office and Members of the Academic Appeals Committee,

I am writing to request that my final grades in GNDS 215 and ARTV 102 be converted to a Credit (CR) standing. Although I completed all course requirements and earned passing grades, I was assigned a D+ in both courses. I believe this outcome does not reflect the quality of my efforts or my true academic ability.

A significant factor that affected my performance was the extended teaching assistant (T.A.) strike, which persisted throughout of the semester. Because of this disruption, I did not receive feedback on my assignments in a timely manner and had no access to grades until well after the term had ended. This lack of ongoing evaluation prevented me from identifying errors or making improvements during the semester. In addition, I was informed at the time that students would be issued a CR in place of a grade due to the strike, but when the labour disruption ended, a letter grade was unexpectedly applied. This created additional uncertainty and hindered my ability to fairly demonstrate my academic progress.

Please let me know if you require any supporting documentation to proceed with this request. Thank you for your time and consideration in reviewing my appeal.

Sincerely,
Madison Ferreira
