Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to formally petition regarding my academic standing. The circumstances that led to my academic difficulties were primarily related to my mental health. During my first year, I faced significant challenges that affected my ability to focus, manage my time effectively, and perform to the best of my abilities. These circumstances were beyond my control, and as a result, my grades during that period do not reflect my true potential as a student.
However, since then, I have taken deliberate steps to address these challenges. I sought support through Queen’s Student Accessibility Services (QSAS), where I have been provided with resources and accommodations that allow me to better manage my academic workload. With these supports in place, I have seen steady improvement in my grades since first year, showing that I am capable of academic success when given the right tools and environment.
I also want to highlight that I have consistently been a strong student. My high school transcripts reflect my abilities and academic dedication, and I believe the difficulties I experienced in university represent a temporary lapse in performance rather than my true capabilities. Now that I have identified the root causes of my struggles and taken effective measures to address them, I am confident that I will be able to meet and exceed my academic requirements going forward.
Thank you for considering my petition. I am committed to continuing to use the strategies and supports I have put in place to ensure my academic success.
Sincerely,
Khiyana Deora
