Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: The purpose of submitting this letter is to request the course instructor and faculty head to permit me to add a course past the course add/drop deadline.

At the time of writing this letter, I am enrolled in four courses. For the past three weeks, I had been on the waitlist for PSYC 342 and had been attending lecture regularly. The week before the deadline, I had reached waitlist spot 2 and was confident that I would be officially enrolled in the class by the deadline. Unfortunately, I was ill during the weekend, the Monday, and Tuesday of this week (the add/drop deadline). I was experiencing headaches, body pain, and throat pain to the extent that it was difficult to pay attention to other matters. By the time I felt well enough to check on my enrollment status in PSYC 342, the deadline had passed, and I had not gotten off the waitlist. Had I been well, this situation would not have occurred.

Since PSYC 342 can no longer accommodate more students, I would like to be part of PSYC 358 (Developmental Social Neuroscience) . The course content aligns with future career aspirations I have, and the reason I could not have enrolled in this course earlier was because even the waitlist was full. As of today, Solus shows that there is one open seat available for this class.

It is my humble request to permit me to enroll in this course. As a third-year student who may not be able to take on courses during Summer 2026, I want to ensure that I take a minimum of five courses per semester so that I can graduate on time and manage my additional Certificate in Business successfully.
