Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am petitioning to add DEVS101 to my Fall term classes after the Academic deadline, because due to previous circumstances that involved my mental health being on a decline- I was unable to swap classes beforehand. I have now dropped the previous class STAT161, and would like to add DEVS101 in its place. Being in a course where I know I can better engage with the course content and peers around me is what will boost my academic performance as well as improve my mental health. Previously my mental health was not in a great position during the available time to add and drop courses, which is why am now petitioning to add DEVS101 to my timeline. With the support of both the instructor of the course, Professor Taylor, and the Undergraduate Chair of the Global Development Studies Department; I am hopeful about there being a spot for me in DEVS101. This is my petition to add DEVS101 to my courses for the Fall term.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I am a first year with the hopes of doing a Political Sciences specialization degree plan, as well as a Law Certificate. Having DEVS101 included in my courses for the Fall term is surely a good addition for my goals here at Queens. I would like to maintain a good GPA, as well as further study the fields of policy and global studies, as I hope to go into International Relations in law school. I have already dropped STAT161 from my time table, so in order to gain all my credits for first year, I have to take up another course. My hopes is that DEVS101 will be this course, and that with more active engagement in this course, I will be able to achieve my goal of maintaining a good GPA and overall improving my academic performance in all of my classes. All of this work will be to further my efforts of hoping to get into the Political Specialization degree plan. This is my academic plan in hopes that I can join DEVS101.
