Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Hello [Registrar’s Office ],

I’m reaching out to ask if it would be possible to drop MATH 127/128 even though the deadline has passed. I would like to replace this course with Philosophy 115, which I believe will be a better academic fit for me.

I’ve never taken calculus before, and it’s been really difficult for me. On top of that, it’s caused a lot of stress and anxiety, which has made it hard to keep up.

My mother recently had major brain surgery. I wanted to talk with both my parents about the decision to drop calculus. However, due to my mother's long recovery, I could only have the conversation after the deadline, which is why I wasn’t able to submit the request on time.

I really believe dropping this class and switching into Philosophy is the best choice for my mental health and overall success, and I’d be so grateful if you could consider an exception in this case. Please let me know if you’d like me to provide any documentation.
