Petition Letter: I would like to take this course because the majority of the research and project work for this study will be done during the fall term. It would be most practical to receive academic credit in the same semester. Additionally, I was unable to get off the waitlist in a required statistics course this term and I am currently enrolled in only four courses. This allows me dedicate the time and effort required to complete the Independent Study to a high standard, and to be able to take another course next semester.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I am fully prepared to dedicate the necessary time and effort to produce the strongest report possible. While it is more difficult considering that completing the course in the Fall semester provides less overall time to finalize the report, I have already begun working with the dataset after receiving it yesterday. My early progress along with weekly meetings to check in with other students working under Dr. Leybourne gives me confidence that I can manage the workload and produce a high quality report within the semester.
