I am appealing to answer outside of the 21 day appeal time for the Faculty of Arts and Science¿¿s decision that I withdraw from Queens.
I was unable to respond within the twenty-one days due to my medical depression. I have submitted medical documentation of my condition to the Faculty of Arts and Science via an Academic Adviser. My disorder causes heightened anxiety and shifts in my mood, this makes it hard to communicate through formal channels. Because of this difficulty, I was unaware of the request to withdraw and so unable to submit my appeal with in the 21 day deadline.
I was diagnosed in 2012 at which time it became apparent that I had been living with this disorder untreated for some time. During the time before my diagnosis I had developed poor habits such as disorganization as well as a tendency to simply walk away from situations of high anxiety. These poor habits have lessened in recent years.
I have now sought therapy for my condition and I am currently on a steady schedule of medication. This along with the recent addition of a substantial support group of friends and family, has given me some amount of control over my depression. For these reasons, it is only now that I am sure that returning is the correct decision and I ask to wave the twenty-one day deadline.
