Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
I would like to request an International Letter of Permission (ILOP) to allow me to take a full course load at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona during the Winter 2026 semester. I am interested in participating in a study abroad because I want to embrace the unique opportunity it provides to explore new cultures and experience education in a different environment. Additionally, a study abroad would broaden my perspectives of the world and immerse me in new ways of thinking and learning.
Barcelona is an ideal city for this experience as it is renowned for its innovation, culture, rich history and diversity. This city will allow me to strengthen my cross-cultural communication skills, which is vital in today’s society and will help me in the future personally, professionally, and academically. Studying in Barcelona will not only contribute to my academic development and global understanding, but will also push me out of my comfort zone and allow me to improve my confidence and sense of self.
I have space in my academic plan to take a number elective courses throughout the remainder of my degree, and studying abroad will provide me with a valuable opportunity to explore new fields of study in an international setting. I have planned ahead accordingly to pursue my exchange goals while ensuring that I continue to complete my degree requirements on time.
For the above reasons, I respectfully request an ILOP from Queen’s University to take a full course load at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona for the Winter 2026 semester.

Academic Plan: On my ILOP at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, I intend to take a full course load (5 courses), all of which will count towards the 48.00 elective courses I am allotted for my Life Sciences degree. The courses I plan on enrolling in include:
- Intercultural Communication (LLCU)
- Urban Interventions, Graffiti and Public Sculpture (POLS)
- Spanish Contemporary Art (ARTH)
- Modernisme: Art Nouveau Architecture Sketched and Explained (ARTH)
- Politics of the Developing World (POLS)
I will ensure that my study abroad experience is successful by remaining organized and dedicated to my school work and by keeping a diligent schedule for all of my work and assignments. These are skills I have gained and demonstrated throughout my time at Queen's, as proven by my high GPA. I am confident that I will be able to balance my academics during my time at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona while taking advantage of the opportunity to immerse myself in the unique culture of Barcelona.
