Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Last night before my first exam for CLST203, I very impulsively dropped the course knowing how behind I was, and how poorly it would go. My academics are very important to me, I have been on dean's list two years in a row, and I did not want to ruin my transcript with a fail. About an hour after I dropped the class however, I received a grade of ninety seven percent, which means that I can afford to take this exam today and still end the class with a grade I am proud of. I have been dealing with some debilitating insomnia i.e. not sleeping for days, sleeping irregularly, and poorly, which has seriously affected my performance this semester. Still, it is early enough for me to catch up and succeed. I need two CLST credits this year to complete my minor, and I was quite enjoying the class, but I simply got scared of not succeeding. The lack of sleep also has not helped with impulsivity and erratic behaviour. I spoke to the instructor (who is also the undergraduate chair) who was extremely empathetic and told me he would be happy to have me back. I will also be taking this exam today at four, and will not fall behind anymore. I am already working with my doctor to deal with these issues as well.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: I am fortunate to have my reading week open to spend it catching up and getting back to where I want to be. I do not doubt that I can achieve a high level of success once I do.
