Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request an IN grade for DRAM 246 for the current term. Unfortunately, I sustained a significant ankle injury on September 1st of this year, which has impacted my mobility and my ability to complete the required practicum hours by the end of the term.

I have been under medical care since I originally got it looked at in a walk-in clinic on the 9th of September and Hotel Dieu on the 8th of October due to the lack of the injury improving. I am also currently attending physiotherapy sessions as part of my recovery plan. As it was a work injury, I had to wait for the WSIB to confirm my case to provide me with the physiotherapy plan. I’ve been attending physiotherapy regularly, and although I’m making steady progress, the injury has limited my ability to complete the remaining coursework on time.

For the Fall Major, I was originally placed in the carpentry crew, which would require extended amount of time on my feet, causing a great deal of pain/further injury.

My physiotherapist expects continued improvement, and I feel confident that I’ll be able to finish all outstanding assignments once I’m in a better physical position to spend extended amounts of time on my feet.

I am committed to completing all outstanding coursework and assessments. Based on my treatment plan and recovery progress, I am confident that I will be able to finalize all remaining requirements during the upcoming winter term during the Winter Major.

Thank you very much for your time, understanding, and support. I truly appreciate your consideration of my situation and remain committed to completing the course successfully.

Sincerely,
Serena James
