Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Date: December 12, 2025
To whom it may concern,
Hope all is well,
I am writing to formally petition for a Drop a Course after the Academic Deadline (W) from the following Summer 2025 courses:
PSYC 100
DEVS 102
RELS 131
WRIT 120
My name is Jennifer Adu Gyamfi, and I am a second-year student in Global Development Studies (Student ID: 20490630).
This petition is necessitated by a severe and disruptive health crisis directly related to my diagnosed epileptic condition. As detailed in the enclosed medical documentation, my health was critically compromised by a significant, involuntary medication change implemented in June 2025, precisely coinciding with the Summer term.
The side effects and instability resulting from this change were immediate and debilitating, manifesting as uncontrollable, unpredictable periods of extreme fatigue, severe headaches, and cognitive impairment. These symptoms rendered me physically and mentally incapable of attending class, concentrating on required readings, or completing assignments to any satisfactory standard.
I took the immediate action of reversing the medication change in late August 2025 in an attempt to stabilize my health before the start of the Fall term. However, the severity of the symptoms during the Summer term meant that continuing those courses was impossible.
The medical circumstances detailed here were unpredictable and entirely beyond my control, constituting a severe extenuating circumstance that prevented successful completion of the Summer 2025 courses.
I am also submitting a concurrent petition regarding my Fall 2025 course load, which demonstrates the sustained nature of this medical disruption throughout the academic year.
I respectfully request that the Committee grant a Drop a Course after the Academic Deadline (W) for my Summer 2025 courses. Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Adu Gyamfi
