Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to petition for a late course drop for my courses taken during the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters due to extenuating medical circumstances beyond my control that directly affected my academic performance.
During this period, I was experiencing significant health-related symptoms, which substantially impaired my ability to function academically. As confirmed in the attached medical documentation, these circumstances reasonably interfered with my ability to attend classes, maintain consistency, and complete academic responsibilities. As the terms progressed, my capacity to concentrate, manage workload, and meet course expectations declined, which directly contributed to poor academic outcomes in the affected courses.
These medical issues were present throughout the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 terms, and their cumulative effect made it difficult for me not only to perform academically, but also to appropriately assess or act on administrative decisions such as withdrawing from courses within standard deadlines. At the time, I continued attempting to manage my coursework despite diminished capacity, without fully recognizing the extent to which my health was impacting my academic performance.
Since that period, I have taken steps to address these health concerns, including ongoing consultation with a health-care professional, and an ongoing outpatient care team. I am submitting this petition so that my academic record more accurately reflects the impact of these documented extenuating circumstances rather than my academic ability or commitment.
Thank you for your time and consideration of this petition.
