Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing to formally request consideration for a late drop from LISC 300. I understand the importance of academic deadlines and do not make this request lightly. However, due to extenuating health-related circumstances beyond my control, I was unable to withdraw from the course within the required timeframe.
Between October 27 and November 14, I experienced a dental condition that significantly affected my ability to function day to day. During this period, I struggled with pain, disrupted sleep, and difficulty concentrating, which directly interfered with my academic performance and my ability to manage coursework effectively. Importantly, this period also coincided with key academic deadlines and the timeframe in which decisions regarding course withdrawal needed to be made.
Because of the nature and timing of this condition, I was not in a position to accurately assess my academic standing or to make timely and informed decisions regarding dropping LISC 300. My focus during this period was on managing my health and completing required treatment, and as a result, I missed the opportunity to complete key course assessments.
Once my condition was resolved and my capacity to manage academic responsibilities returned, I took prompt steps to seek academic guidance and initiate this petition. I am now submitting this request at the earliest reasonable opportunity, along with supporting documentation that confirms the timing, duration, and impact of my condition.
