Petition Letter: I am writing to request approval to withdraw from POLS211 after the drop deadline without academic penalty due to medical circumstances. I live with a chronic illness and experienced a significant flare-up shortly after the drop date. During flare-ups, I am required to take medication that causes flu-like symptoms, including fatigue, headaches, nausea and abdominal pain. These symptoms are severe, in combination with the symptoms from the flare-up, which are quite similar but also include fever. These symptoms make it difficult for me to focus, retain information, and keep up with my academic workload. All of this has had a substantial impact on my overall well-being. My doctor has since determined that I must remain on this medication for approximately one year. Given the ongoing symptoms and the demands of this course, I am unable to continue with the demands of my present course load. I appreciate your consideration of my request.
