Petition Letter: Good afternoon,
During the summer and fall 2024 semester, I was experiencing significant personal hardship due to my husband’s struggle with severe active addiction. The instability and emotional distress caused by this situation had a profound impact on my ability to focus, attend consistently, and perform to the best of my academic ability. Despite my efforts, these circumstances were beyond my control and directly affected my academic performance. I was also suffering from intense flares of ankylosing spondylitis during this time (likely due to stress). Further, I took DEVS 101 during the winter 2024 semester my best friend died, I had made arrangements with Professor Tomac to finish my last two assignments. However, this is when things started to really spiral with my husband and I was unable to complete the final two assignments.

The last 2 years have been spent organizing detox, rehab programs, NA meetings and trying to manage relapses while doing my best to maintain a safe and healthy environment for our toddler on my own. It has been exhausting. I’m still uncomfortable discussing the details of my life during this time.

I am respectfully seeking to have the courses from the summer and fall semesters of 2024 removed from my academic record. I would be deeply grateful for any consideration you are able to provide and am happy to supply further documentation.
