Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean (Academic),

I am petitioning to request an extension of an exam deferral for CISC 102 (Fall, 2025).

The extenuating circumstances that are preventing me from writing my deferred exam are the sudden onset of cold/flu symptoms, along with moderate arm pain. My cold/flu symptoms were of a sudden onset as I woke up this morning (January 18, 2026) for my deferred exam. My arm pain is part of an injury sustained last month that was aggravated by the large amounts of writing I had to do for my other deferred exams yesterday. These extenuating circumstances do not allow me to write the deferred exam as I do not feel well enough to, along with finding it painful to write. I will be seeing a medical professional to aid in the recovery from these extenuating circumstances.

My plan for achieving academic success in the future is to recover from my cold/flu symptoms. For my arm pain issues, I will be receiving physiotherapy to help the injury heal. The recovery from both of my extenuating circumstances will help support my academic goals of being able to write my deferred exam, and move ahead with my academics.
