Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

I am writing to request approval to swap one of my current courses, PSYC370, for PSYC337. I have been struggling to understand the material in my current course despite consistent effort, including attending lectures, and completing readings. Unfortunately, I am still finding it difficult to keep up with the key concepts, and I am concerned this will negatively affect my academic performance and overall workload this term.

After reviewing my program requirements and speaking with my home advisor (i am an exchange student), I believe that PSYC337 would be a better fit for my learning needs and academic goals. The content aligns more closely with my strengths and interests, and it supports my progress toward my degree requirements in a way that is more manageable for me at this time.

I am requesting permission to make this change as soon as possible so I can focus my efforts effectively and stay on track this semester. I would be grateful if you could let me know the next steps or any documentation you require to process this request.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,
Amelia Allan

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: If my petition is granted, I will follow a clear plan to improve my academic success. I will withdraw from/swap out of Psyc370 and enrol in PSYC337, because it better matches my current strengths and program needs and will allow me to focus my time more effectively. To maintain progress in all courses, I will use a structured weekly study schedule with regular review sessions and will start assignments at least a week before they are due. I will attend office hours, tutorials, or peer support sessions at least once per week, and I will seek additional help immediately if my understanding or grades drop below my target. I will also meet with an academic advisor before future course registration to ensure my course selections fit my goals and workload, and if needed I will take a lighter course load next term to protect my performance. Finally, I will support my learning by maintaining consistent routines (sleep, weekly planning, and stress management) and, if an ongoing extenuating circumstance is affecting my studies, I will continue regular support through appropriate services, so that these challenges do not interfere with my academic goals.
