Petition Letter

Petition Letter: I would like to petition to add myself to CISC 497.

I want to move seminar sections in mid-January 2026 with my friend's section. I dropped the course in SOLUS following the TA's instructions to add the correct section. However, when I went to add the course, SOLUS would not allow me due to a scheduling conflict with another course. Before the semester, I get approval from both professors, but due to solus system I unable to rejoin the course. Since the add period had ended, I was unable to fix this in time.

This was an extenuating circumstance that was out of my control. I acted quickly following what I was told, reached out to the department admin, Student Services, and SOLUS. I was then pointed in the direction of submitting this Academic Petition. I only wish to add this late to get added back into the section that I was taking and approved to be in. Documentation from the instructor and department are attached.

Thank you for reviewing this petition so I can continue the course due to administrative and technical difficulties.

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: If granted, I will return to normal activity within CISC 497 as soon as possible, completing all remaining assignments and meeting with the professor and TA as necessary. I have kept up with coursework on my own since the start of this problem and will make up any missed work promptly.

This was a permanent issue and strictly bureaucratic. If my enrollment is restored, I do not foresee any further issues. I plan to complete CISC 497 this semester and continue working toward graduation.
