Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing to you to petition a request to waive the add/drop deadline for a
course. In this specific instance I am neither dropping nor adding a course; I
am simply requesting permission to be enrolled in a different lab section for
my current course. I am currently enrolled in PSYC 302 in the lab section (005) on
Wednesday evenings from 6:30-9:30 PM and am looking to switch into the
section on Tuesday (002) from 2:30-5:30 PM.
My reason for the switch is that this time would align better with my schedule
both academically and for my current employment. I have already received
permission via email to switch from both my current TA and the TA of the new
section who is also the head TA for the course. Additionally on SOLUS it shows
that there are still 2 seats available in the lab time I wish to switch into.
I couldn’t make the switch sooner as I was waiting on confirmation for my
altered availability from my employer and considering this is not an add/drop
and simply a switch of lab time for the same course I did not think the
add/drop deadline applied to this circumstance.

Academic Plan: Should this petition be granted, it will allow me to have a more balanced schedule between my work and academic commitments which will promote my individual success. In this instance I will remain enrolled in PSYC 302 which will allow me to apply for a thesis next year which is a goal of mine as I aspire to go to graduate school. Having a lab time that is better aligned with my life currently will allow me to dedicate more of my time and energy to performing well and achieving success for my future.
