Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am appealing to waive the 21-day appeal deadline for my incomplete grade in HLTH 205 from Fall 2014 (which was extended to May 2015) and to drop PSYC 221 from Winter 2015.
Between the time when the ruling was placed on my transcript in mid-May 2015 to when the 21-day appeal deadline lapsed in early June, I began a medication dosage adjustment as I had been experiencing severe side effects including frequent palpitations and excessive night sweats. During this adjustment period that lasted until mid-August, I experienced additional side effects including palpitations, fatigue, and insomnia. In mid-May, I began a novel and demanding full-time summer job until the end of August that I had already committed to earlier in the year. At the same time, I began receiving physiotherapy and acupuncture treatment two to three times a week for chronic neck and back pain that had been exacerbated by a car accident in February and a fall on ice in early January. I completed the physiotherapy and acupuncture treatments as of this week.
These health issues and obligations had significantly affected my coping abilities and decision making this summer. However, now that these issues have been resolved, I am willing to be proactive about my academic standing. I would really like to be given the chance to complete HLTH 205 and am confident in my ability as I was averaging an A in the course and had already begun the final assignment that is outstanding. Completing HLTH 205 is important to me because it is a core course of the Health Studies minor and a prerequisite for HLTH 315.
I would greatly appreciate if you would consider my appeal to waive the 21-day appeal deadline so that my late appeal may be heard.
