Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am writing to formally request a late drop for PSYC 241. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to complete the final exam for this course.
At the time of the exam, an unexpected circumstance prevented me from attending and completing the exam as planned. Despite taking precautions to ensure I would be present, I was unable to write the exam. This circumstance was unintentional and not reflective of my usual academic responsibility or commitment to my studies.
Throughout the term, I made efforts to stay engaged with the course material, however, missing the final exam has made it impossible for me to successfully complete the course requirements. Given these circumstances, I believe that a late drop is the most appropriate course of action.
Following this situation, I have taken steps to address its impact, including seeking guidance on appropriate academic options and next steps. I have also reflected on strategies to better manage unforeseen challenges in the future to prevent a similar outcome.
Given the timing and severity of these circumstances, I respectfully request consideration for a late drop from PSYC 241. I believe this is the most appropriate resolution, as the missed final exam was the direct result of circumstances beyond my control and does not represent my academic abilities or commitment.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Emily Aby
