Petition Letter: I am writing to explain the circumstances that affected my ability to complete the EMPR 220 exam during both the Fall and Winter semesters.
At the end of the Fall semester, I experienced unexpected health circumstances during the exam period that prevented me from writing one of my final exams. I was later granted the opportunity to write this deferred exam in the Winter semester.
However, during the Winter semester, I experienced further extenuating circumstances, including two surgeries within a short period. The surgeries and recovery made it difficult for me to keep up with my courses, and I had to step back from the semester, only continuing with one online course.
Because of this, I was also unable to take the deferred exam approved for the Winter term. The timing of my surgeries and recovery directly overlapped with the time I was expected to complete the exam and other academic responsibilities.
Overall, these circumstances significantly impacted my academic performance, as I was unable to complete the required exam in both semesters.
During this time, I followed medical advice and focused on recovery. Since then, I have been taking steps to ensure I am better positioned to return to my studies.
I am asking that my academic record be considered in light of these circumstances.
