Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Hello,

I’m writing this as a formal petition to ask for understanding and consideration regarding a situation that seriously impacted my ability to keep up with my coursework.

Since April 12th, I was locked out of my school accounts (Outlook, OnQ, etc.) because of the two-step verification system. The issue was that I needed access to my phone to receive login codes, but due to financial struggles, I wasn’t able to keep my phone service active. Because of that, I had no way to get into my accounts, no matter how many times I tried.

I want to be clear that I genuinely did everything I could to fix this. I tried every option available to me, but nothing worked, and I was stuck in a situation that honestly felt really unfair. I care about my schoolwork and staying on track, so being locked out of my own courses for that long was frustrating and stressful in a way that’s hard to explain.

Even while I didn’t have access, I still worked on everything I could. I completed as much of my coursework as possible based on what I already had, but I couldn’t finish certain parts because I didn’t have access to rubrics, assignment guidelines, or updated instructions. That left me in a position where I had done the work, but couldn’t fully complete or properly submit it.

On top of that, this situation really affected me mentally. The stress of being locked out, combined with the pressure of falling behind for reasons I couldn’t control, caused a lot of anxiety and made it hard to focus. It’s been overwhelming trying to deal with all of this at once while still wanting to do well in my classes.

I was finally able to resolve the issue last night and regain access to everything. While I’m relieved about that, the delay has already impacted my ability to meet deadlines and submit complete work. Right now, I’m doing everything I can to catch up as quickly as possible.

I’m respectfully asking for some understanding and flexibility given these circumstances—whether that’s extensions, consideration with grading, or any accommodation you think is fair. I’m fully committed to finishing all my work and showing that I understand the material, I just need a fair chance to do that.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and for considering my situation. I really appreciate any support or understanding you can offer.

Sincerely,
Alex Yehdego
