Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am requesting permission to take third year courses away from Queen's University in the Winter 2016 semester. I am planning to study abroad through the program Semester At Sea, run through the University of Virginia - an accredited university. After going over my academic plan both independently and with Dr. Allison Goebel (Undergraduate Chair of Environmental Studies) I am confident that the study abroad program will not disrupt my graduation and will in fact add a unique and international element to my degree.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I am currently on track to graduate in the Spring of 2017 with an Honours Bachelor of Sciences in Environmental Sciences. I have already completed most of the core and supporting courses required for my degree. This means that even if I were to take five courses at Semester At Sea that only transferred as elective credits, I could still fit all of my remaining core courses into my fourth year academic schedule and graduate on time. Meeting with Dr. Allison Goebel though, we decided that there are four classes offered on the exchange program Semester At Sea that will act as core/supporting courses for my degree. Both Dr. Goebel and I agree that the exchange program will not prevent me from graduating on time.
