Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To the Associate Dean (Studies),
I am appealing to request an extension of an incomplete grade. In April, I was unable to write my Biology 103 exam as I came down with a bad case of pneumonia and had to be hospitalized the night before. I spoke with Dr. Walker and arranged to write the exam on September 11th. Unfortunately, my grandfather passed away late on the 9th and I found out on the 10th. I was incredibly close to him so it was very difficult to think about anything else. Dr. Walker thought it would be best for me to wait until I felt better about the situation before writing the final. Additionally, Biol 103 is a prerequisite for Biol 205 - a required course for my major so I would really like to finish the course. I understand that this is a difficult process and I'm so sorry for the inconvenience, but I would be very appreciative of any accommodations that could be made. I have attached both the obituary I found online from my grandfather's passing and my proof of hospitalization from April. Hopefully this information will suffice.
