Petition Letter: To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing to respectfully request consideration for late enrollment into a course due to extenuating financial and administrative circumstances that prevented me from registering before the deadline.
Earlier in the enrollment period, I had an outstanding balance on my student account which resulted in a registration hold being placed on my account. Due to my financial circumstances at the time, I was unable to immediately resolve the balance. After explaining my situation and submitting an appeal, I was previously granted permission to enroll in courses despite the outstanding balance, and the hold was temporarily waived to allow registration.
However, at the time the hold was removed, the course I intended to enroll in was still restricted to priority students, meaning I was unable to register despite having temporary access restored. I remained on the course waitlist and continued monitoring enrollment availability while following the instructions provided to me by the university.
In early May, I resubmitted a request to enroll with the outstanding balance, as I had been instructed to do in the original correspondence. In this request, I also referenced that I had previously been approved through the same appeal process and had been advised that resubmitting the request would likely allow the hold to be waived again. Unfortunately, the registration hold was not removed that time despite my understanding that it would be, and I therefore remained unable to access course registration.
I was ultimately unable to make the required payment until May 8, which aligned with the payment timeline I had previously communicated and proposed. Unfortunately, May 8 was also the final day for course registration. Additionally, because payment processing required several business days to be reflected on my account, the hold was not cleared in time for me to register before the deadline passed.
Throughout this entire process, I made every effort to resolve the situation as quickly and responsibly as possible. I remained in communication with the appropriate departments, followed all instructions that were provided to me, monitored the course waitlist, and attempted to address the financial issue within the limitations of my circumstances. At no point was I neglecting my academic responsibilities or intentionally delaying registration. Rather, the situation developed due to a combination of financial hardship, administrative timing, and registration restrictions that were largely outside of my control.
Being unable to enroll in this course may significantly impact my academic progression and planning moving forward. For this reason, I am respectfully requesting consideration for late enrollment into the course. I am fully prepared to catch up on any missed material immediately and remain committed to my academic success.

Academic Plan: If my petition is granted, I plan to take several steps to ensure my academic success moving forward and to prevent similar circumstances from affecting my studies again by better preparing for the chance of financial shortcoming.
First, now that my financial situation has been stabilized and my payment has been submitted, I will continue monitoring my student account closely to ensure that future balances, holds, or registration issues are addressed well in advance of important academic deadlines. I also intend to remain in regular communication with the appropriate university offices regarding any financial or enrollment concerns so that any issues can be resolved proactively.
Academically, I am fully prepared to commit the necessary time and effort required to succeed in the course despite the delayed enrollment. I understand the importance of catching up quickly on any missed material, and I plan to review all course content immediately upon enrollment, attend all lectures and tutorials consistently, and make use of available academic resources such as office hours, academic advising, and peer support when necessary.
In addition, I intend to carefully manage my workload and academic responsibilities moving forward to ensure I am balancing my courses effectively. This experience has emphasized the importance of planning ahead and staying organized with both financial and academic obligations, and I will apply these lessons going forward.
