Petition Letter: May 17 2026

To the Dean and Academic Petitions Committee,

I am writing to request approval for a late course drop for LLCU111 as recommended by my professor, due to extenuating circumstances that significantly impacted my ability to complete coursework during the academic term. I am applying to major in psychology in the next few days, and I am hoping to remove the failing grade from my transcript promptly, as it could disqualify me from the program.

Throughout this term, I experienced substantial academic barriers related to my documented learning disabilites and lack of timely access to appropriate accommodations. Despite my continued efforts to remain engaged in the course, these barriers severely impaired my ability to manage coursework requirements, maintain consistent academic functioning, and complete assignments within required deadlines.

The absence and delay of adequate accommodations created challenges with executive functioning, concentration, time management, and assignment completion, and severely impacted my mental health. As the term progressed, these difficulties compounded and ultimately made it impossible for me to successfully complete the remaining coursework to the standard expected. I made efforts to communicate with instructors and seek support; however, the circumstances affecting my academic performance persisted and became overwhelming.

This situation was not reflective of my academic commitment or capabilities, but rather the impact of disability-related barriers that were not sufficiently mitigated during the term. Continuing to carry this course on my transcript would not accurately represent my abilities under equitable learning conditions.

Given these extenuating circumstances, I am respectfully requesting consideration and approval of a late drop from this course. I believe this accommodation is necessary to support my academic wellbeing and allow me to continue my studies under more manageable and equitable circumstances.
