Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am submitting this petition to request consideration for examinations affected by illness during the May examination period.

I had three consecutive final examinations scheduled from May 19 to May 21: PSYC 100 on May 19, STAT 263 on May 20, and ECON 239 on May 21.

On May 19, I attended my PSYC 100 examination as scheduled. During the examination, I became ill and vomited. I spent a significant amount of time dealing with my symptoms and was unable to focus fully on the exam. By the time I spoke with the invigilators, only a limited amount of time remained in the examination. Given my condition and the limited time remaining, I was advised to return home and rest.

On the morning of May 20, I felt somewhat better and believed I was able to attempt my STAT 263 examination. However, during the examination I again became ill and vomited. Following this incident, I was advised by the invigilator to return home and rest. Examination staff were aware of my condition and the circumstances surrounding the examination.

By the morning of May 21, my condition had not improved. I was already feeling unwell before the start of my ECON 239 examination and did not feel capable of completing the exam. As this was a continuation of the same illness that had affected me during the previous two examinations, I emailed my instructor to explain my circumstances and inform them that I would be unable to attend the examination.

The examinations on May 19, May 20, and May 21 were all affected by the same period of illness. Examination staff were aware of my condition during both the PSYC 100 and STAT 263 examinations.

I am submitting this petition to explain the circumstances surrounding these examinations and respectfully request consideration of my situation.
