Petition Letter
Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,
I am petitioning to add CHEM 285 (Summer, 2026) after the add deadline.
Due to the Senate Sanction Block, I was unable to add the course CHEM 285 (Summer 2026) by the add deadline. When the Senate Sanction Block was resolved on Friday 10th July 2026, I tried to add the CHEM 285 from my end, SOLUS gave error prompt saying “Unable to add this class - requisites have not been met. Prerequisite CHEM 281/3.0. Exclusion CHEM 223/3.0; CHEM 282/3.0. Note Students in CHEM, BCHM, or LISC (Hons) programs should not enrol in this course.” I did complete the course CHEM 281/3.0 during the Summer 2026 but I don’t see any reason why the SOLUS showed me this error message. I called the academic advisor on Friday 10th July 2026 at around 8:00 PM however the office was closed at 4:00 PM. During the regular office hours, the zoom calls were also packed so I was unable to reach out to the academic advisor online on Friday 10th July 2026 to ask why this prompt was showing.

Academic Plan
Academic Plan: In future, I plan to organize my academic schedule in advance and ensure that my fees are paid by their respective due date. Initially, I planned to do the wet labs by taking CHEM 282(Winter 2027). I am specifically petitioning to add CHEM 285 (Summer, 2026) after the add deadline because I will not be able to take CHEM 282 during winter 2027 due to scheduling conflicts with multiple courses during that semester. Rather than struggling to find a solution individually, in future, I intend to seek out for early assistance from designated advisors so the issues can be solved according to the proper guidance.
