Petition Letter

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Studies),

Greetings, my name is Cameron Hyndman and I am a part-time student at Queen¿¿s. I am writing in order to appeal the deadline for switching into a course. I would like to add CLST 102, Introduction to Greek Civilization, to my timetable, even though I am past the add date. I have previously taken a two year program at St. Lawrence, where I focused on the social sciences. I took courses in psychology, sociology, philosophy and anthropology. I took a year off, and am now at Queen¿¿s part time in order to prepare for taking a full course load next year.
Although my primary interests are in the arts, in the interests of diversifying my courses, I took a course in introductory physics. I had done well in physics in high school, and thought that I may want to pursue it in the future. It has become apparent that physics does not capture my attention or interest as it had in high school. It is evident that the arts are more suitable to my aptitudes. Though late, I would very much like to switch into Introduction to Greek Civilization. I believe that this course would be more to my temperament and that I would excel in it. I know that catching up in the course will take a considerable amount of work, but as I am only a part-time student, I believe that I can manage. I have already contacted the instructor and he had no problem with me joining the course at such a late date. I would greatly appreciate your permission to add this course.
Thank you for your time and consideration,

Cameron Hyndman

Academic Plan

Academic Plan: Academic Plan

My academic plan is to take two courses in my first (part-time) year of studies. The following year I will attend Queen¿¿s full time and take four or five courses. The following year I will also take four or five courses. As I have not decided on a major yet, but courses in the humanities are of great appeal to me.
In the short term, should I successfully add Introduction to Greek Civilizations to my timetable, I will work the be caught up on course material within a week or two. As I am a part-time student, and have only one other course, this will be possible. My obligations to my part-time job will not be a hindrance to my plans. Any resources that the course instructor can make available to aid me in this process will be greatly appreciated.
