Petition Letter: I am currently a second year student in biochemistry plan. I am wishing to transfer to the physics major. I took PHYS 117 on first year, but not PHYS 106 which is required for the second year physics courses. I want to be enrolled in PHYS 106 now so that I can choose a physics major next year. I have talked with both Professor Mark Chen, the Associate Head, Professor Fraser, the course instructor, and got their support and approval to take this course from the week after Thanksgiving. They also said they can help if there is any problem on appeal. I really hope that I can get your approval as well. I know it is two weeks late after the official enrollment date, but it really took time to figure out what I really want to learn, to talking with parents and advisors, and to make the decision. Thank you
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I took PHYS 117, which is an easier first year physics for other science majors, also MATH 111 and 121, and did well on all of them. Professor Fraser says since I already have a good background on math and an understanding to first year physics, I will not be in any disadvantage comparing to other students when I get into the class a month late. He gives me the access to PHYS 106 Moodle and assigns me to a lad group to let me go with the class after Thanksgiving. I think I can make up the missed content soon and I will try my best to do well in PHYS 106 and physics on the following years.
