Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am a fifth year student and I had planned to retake CISC110 to improve the grade I got when I took it the first time, during my first year at Queen¿¿s. This summer during the add/drop period, I waited for my appointment date to add CISC110 as well as my other classes for this fall semester. I was unable to add CISC110 on Solus. I believe this is because it was registering my having taken CISC110 previously and therefore was causing me to seem like I was not meeting the requirements. I contacted the instructor of the course, Emese Somogyvari, to get her permission to retake this course and she accepted, referring me to David Lamb to get this Solus problem worked out. I contacted David Lamb on July 30th and we exchanged several emails to try and fix this problem. When I returned to Queen¿¿s in September, I was told that I was being added to the course and so I continued attending lectures and lab sessions, as my instructor recommended I do. It was not until recently that I found out I was never added on Solus. It took me this long to find out because I thought I had been enrolled. There is no exam for this course, so it was not odd to me that it did not show up in my exam schedule and, because I write out my own timetable and do not print out the one from Solus, I did not notice that it did not show up on my Solus timetable.
Academic Plan
Academic Plan: I have kept my instructor up-to-date throughout all of this and she supports my request to be added to this course. I have attended every single lecture and every single lab. I have handed in every assignment and I have taken every test. I am not behind in this course and so I do not think there is a problem, academically, in adding this course so late in the semester. My plan for now is to continue attending class and submitting assignments until I know the answer to my appeal. I am working hard to improve my academics at Queen¿¿s and I would love the opportunity to retake this course in order to improve my average.
Documentation
