Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean (Studies),

I am writing to request a Retrospective Letter of Permission for PSYC 379 (Social Psychology), a course that I have now completed through Athabasca University. Last spring I was set to graduate with by BAH in Health Studies from Queen¿¿s. Unfortunately at the last minute I was informed that I had been unsuccessful in my elective social psychology course PSYC 241. As this came as a large surprise I was extremely flustered, and after speaking with Melody Monte decided to enrol in Social Psychology once again with Athabasca. Since it was the exact same course and I had been in touch with faculty members confirming it would suffice for my degree I went ahead and enrolled. I chose the online course as I was in the midst of moving to Australia for the year, however was very adamant on get this course completed for my honor¿¿s degree that I had worked so hard for. I completed the course with a dramatic grade increase whilst living abroad and upon returning home to Canada, sent my transcript from Athabasca to Queen¿¿s to wrap things up and apply to graduate. You can imagine my frustration and disappointment after receiving news that I had missed the step of obtaining a letter of permission to complete this course. I have since been in touch with members of the Faculty of Art Sci who have been very helpful in assisting me on where to go from here. This is my last credit to complete my degree, which will no doubt play a role in the job-hunting process. I have paid the allocated fee¿¿s as well as put in the time and work for this course and while I realize I missed a fundamental step, would still very much appreciate being able to obtain this credit to graduate.
