Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am requesting to drop my History 295 course after the deadline for dropping courses. I made the decision not to complete the course after consulting my parents and doctor regarding my difficulty coping with my workload this semester and its affects on my mental health. I have an anxiety disorder, which I have received treatment for since high school. It has generally been under good control with the support of my doctor, family and the strategies that I have developed through counselling, however, the culminating effects of the workload that I experienced this semester I found too great and I had a relapse the week of November 16th. I decided that I needed to let one of my courses go in order to help reduce the anxiety and depression that I was falling into. I have consulted with my doctor and these particular issues have been dealt with at this time. I was able to complete my semester and did well in all of my other courses. I believe that if I had not dropped this course, it would have been detrimental to my academic standing and my overall mental health. Please grant me this request. Thank-you.
