Petition Letter

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,

I am appealing to drop this course do to a medical condition. On the 31st of October I obtained a concussion officiating rugby, Queen's vs McMaster men. I was knocked out and taken to KGH where I received care and testing. Follow up with Dr. O'Connor stated no academic activity for a substantial amount of time. I was in a situation where if I did not continue my studies I would eventually be put back a academic term. Thus, I sat down with all my professors including the very accommodating Professor Molson for Stats 263. All professors were accommodating and allowed me to not attend class because I could not physically concentrate for more than 45 minutes with out receiving extreme pains in my brain. I made my breakdown and I completed all my papers and works. Currently, I have 4 papers and two labs left and then 4 exams in January which is a lot to handle for myself. Moreover, pertaining to Stats 263, I wanted to write the first part (prior to the exam) and then after the exam in January. Part one was written on December 14th. That week I have been having brutal head pains because of me completing my studies for that exam along with my two politics papers. It was really brutal on me. However, I did it. I entered the exam room on the morning of the 14th to complete my part one. I made it perhaps 2/3 of the way through and I could not do it anymore. I knew all of the content, however, I thought my health was more important than my grade so I did not continue it. I contacted Dr. Molson, he suggested I write to you to ask permission to drop my STATS 263 grade and complete it later on when I am feeling healthier. To summarize, because of my concussion and the pains associated with it. I could not have completed my part one and thus I would be left if I received a 100 percent on my part two a passing grade only.

Thank you for your time,
Andrew Gardiner
