Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: I am requesting an appeal to waive the 21-day appeal deadline.
As the 2015 winter school semester came to an end and exams over with, I spoke to somebody in the Department Faculty of Arts and Science with concerns for my plan selection in the summer. I informed whom I was speaking to that I would be in remote Labrador with no access to internet. Luckily, as my appointment date came around, I managed to visit a nearby community to access internet and calling. I discussed my plan for second year and asked about the appeal process towards my first year grades. In terms of the appeal, the advisor told me to gather up all the appropriate documentation necessary for what I would be appealing once I got back to Kingston for the start of the 2015 Fall semester. Completely unaware of this 21-day appeal deadline, I met with Cindy Butts once I had all of the appropriate documentation and was then informed about the 21-day appeal, which was sometime in November. However, even before knowing of this 21-day appeal deadline, I was out of the country within a week of school closing and then flew directly to Labrador early May. The Appropriate documentation was not obtainable until I was back in Kingston.
Should this appeal be granted, I will be submitting a second appeal asking to drop MATH121 and for credit standing in my other courses. This is because of an illness during first and second semester, which lasted for a combined duration of 12 weeks.
