Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: To whom it may concern,
The reason I am dropping these courses and the reason for the appeal is due to my health conditions. From the beginning of the year, my health has not been co-operating for several reasons but I managed to take courses through out the year. Beginning of last year I got married and a few months after suffered from depression and had suicidal thoughts. I tried to cut myself. My husband was there to look after me. I was taking three courses at the time but I chose not to drop them. Not knowing where my health is going, in September I found out I have a tumour. This is after I chose my fall term courses. The doctor told me I had to go through several treatments in order to cure this before it grew. I was attending several appointments as well as different ultrasounds. I then had to drop one course from my list in order to lighten the course load in September. I was going along with my other courses hoping I can get through my studies while I undergo treatment.
The doctor did recommend a break from studies until I had some treatments done. In October I did not expect getting pregnant. Due to my other health conditions, my pregnancy is getting a bit rough and hard to handle. I have a very bad physical condition due to depression, a tumour and pregnancy all together which has made me faint and lose concious easily as well as ending up in the hospital several times. I have collapsed twice in the hospital already. With so many symptoms in my way I am unable to even stand. I had to quit my job. With three medical conditions to deal with I am having trouble balancing the load. My OB is very careful since she is aware I am depressed and pregnant and said I need to be in a relaxed environment. Its hard for me with all thats going on. The pregnancy was unexpected and found out in late October which is why the appeal is a bit late. I had to speak to my doctor and the university for help. I tried to keep up but my health is not co-operating with me. Instead, it is getting worse day by day. I had several appointments last month and more appointments then I normally expected but it is due to the several health conditions that the doctor has told me to get seen regularly; especially keeping an eye on the size of the tumour and making sure it does not increase during the pregnancy otherwise things can get complicated. I have documentation that can prove my visit to the doctor as well as the letters for my upcoming appointments.
I tried to take all courses but knowing the amount of health conditions I have I am not able to continue these courses and hope you will understand my circumstances and accept the appeal. I have been trying my best to stay in class but I do not want to risk my pregnancy due to other health conditions. This is my biggest fear and concern. I will highly appreciate your help. If any further documentation is required I am willing to provide. This appeal is being made for to drop my courses from Winter 2015 as well as Fall 2015 without any financial penalty. I am in the worst condition possible which may be hard to explain but I hope you understand. I would appreciate it.
