Petition Letter: Dear to whom it may concern,
My name is Menakah Yoharaja and I'm requesting a late appeal. In third year (2014-2015) I was suffering from a lot of mental abuse and physical illness. My family was going through some personal problems, I was having a lot of problems with my right eye (I had to go through minor surgery), and I was being bullied by a club at Queens University. All of these problems have significantly affected my marks for the 2014-2015 academic year.
At the beginning of third year I joined an Indian dance team that bullied me because of a personal situation that I went through with one of the members. This resulted in them not caring about my health (when I went through surgery), talking badly behind my back to others, and treating me badly publicly. I reported them to AMS that year (2014-2015) but the issue was only resolved as of this year. I wanted to deal with the situation with the dance team before requesting an appeal as it did take up most of my time. Due to this situation, It was harder for me to focus on my courses as I was mentally and physically unfit.
My parents were also considering a divorce at that point in time. I didn't know how to handle it, especially considering tissue started leaking out of my lower eyelid due to stress, it was exam season, and I was being bullied by the dance team. Due to these reasons it was very difficult for me to focus on school as I was trying to mentally and physically recover.
During the 2014-2015 academic year there are a few environmental science classes that I did well on, this is because I'm good at this subjects and don't have to focus too hard to do well (such as the other courses that I did badly in). I have been doing better this year (as you can tell by my first semester marks), and I'm still seeing my counsellor that I was seeing last year to continue to move past the events that occurred last year. For these reasons, I am requesting an appeal for certain courses in the 2014-2015 academic year.
Sincerely,
Menakah

I would like to drop GEOL 104, and get CR for both STATS 263 and MUSC P52 for the Fall Term of 2014. The situation I was going through made it very difficult for me to focus on my school work. I was however able to do better on some of my environmental science courses (2015) because they are easier for me to comprehend, and need little focus to do well in. Though the three courses I listed are harder than most, I am a student who works hard and gets good grades. Last semester I was able to obtain a GPA of 3.3 without the stress and abuse I went through last year. I currently have no other supporting documents to add on to this letter. If there is anything else I am missing, please feel free to send me an email. Thank you very much for your help.
Sincerely,
Menakah
