Submit an Academic Petition or Appeal

Petition Letter: Dear Associate Dean,

My name is Adam Kadoch and I am a 3rd year student in the Applied Economics program. I am appealing to you to waive the 21-Day appeal deadline in order to receive a Credit Standing (CR) in ECON 255, which I completed in the Winter 2015 semester. Prior to transferring to Queen's in January of 2015, I had been diagnosed with a condition, which had led me to continue getting treatment to this day. After speaking with Accessibility Services and my doctor, I have been granted an exam accommodation, which I did not have the previous semester. Unfortunately, when the symptoms returned during the ECON 255 exam last April, I did not know how to handle the situation. I had spoken with the professor after the exam but because I had already written it, I was instructed there was nothing that could be done. After speaking with the amazing Academic Advisors at Queen's, I was made aware that I am able to appeal the deadline, which is one of the reasons I have not undertaken this process earlier. In addition, when the symptoms returned they were not just during the exam but remained for several months where I was able to receive additional help from my doctor. Continuing to work with Accessibility Services and the Academic Advisors has been vital to my continued success at Queen's University. As I continue to get support from my friends, family and doctor and the Queen's community at large, I strongly believe that I will be able to make a meaningful contribution to Queen's during my time here. Thank you for your time and consideration for reviewing my appeal.
