Petition Letter
Petition Letter: I am writing this letter to ask for permission to drop the course WRIT 125-Academic Essay Writing, held during the fall semester of the 2015 academic year, even though the deadline to drop courses has passed.
Due to special circumstances, I was unable to drop this course on time, as my mind believed I truly would have the time and energy to complete this course.
I have, for a long time, a serious medical condition that has required many hospital visits. In the fall of 2015, I suffered a relapse that required me to get medical attention. I was attending multiple appointments per day with a team of healthcare professionals. My determination to complete my degree kept me pushing through, and I pushed my medical condition to the side to focus on my school work. This only made things worse for me, and my illness got worse. My doctor and dietitian had advised me it was time to choose between school and my health.
It is because of circumstances that were out of my control that I missed the deadline. I am a second year student, I am planning to further my education by applying for a Masters Degree. An incomplete or failure would greatly affect my chances of being accepted. By taking my doctors advice I have been able to plan, focus, and prioritize my goals in order to become successful. This semester, I am taking a lighter course load to focus on my personal health and to ensure I succeed in my studies.
I have worked hard during my studies at Queens University and I plan to take a summer course to replace the one I am hoping you will let me drop.
I will be happy to answer any questions you might have.
Thank you for taking the time to review my request.
Sincerely,
Victoria Kaulback
